A small dovetail does the trick in attaching the Meade DS90 Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) to the Meade mount. A layer of cork is between the ring and the dovetail to prevent motion… the metal on metal tended to move a little. When tightening the 1/4×20 bolt into the aluminum thread, one never wants to tighten too much… aluminum has a tendency to strip. This is the scope that was cleaned earlier

That small dovetail allowed us to move the 11″ dovetail over to the Celestron scope (also cleaned earlier). Later on these will go outside for testing, as they will be easily interchangable on the mount.

Celestron – disassemble

This one was longer and had two mounting rings. These are positioned roughly around the balance point.
