Bean Collection growout
On Sunday May 19th, 2013, a novel experiment took shape on a Heirloom & Seed Growers of Eastern Ontario members property. The entire heirloom bean collection was planted to be grown out all in one place at one time. The garden is approx 45’x40′ on a good slope.
Other members of the group are also planting of various smaller portions of the collection as well. This is mainly for security as this garden was hit by a late hailstorm a couple of years back, but also for redundancy, better numbers and different soil areas.
Pole beans needed 8′ tall posts with string to grow up and bush beans were planted inside the perimeter.
Here is a sample of one of the bean types.
