So we got the Celestron Dew Heater Ring, which mounts on the inside.<\/p>\n<p>Step 1: add a paper safety on the glass (image c925b.jpg)<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/c925b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/c925b-299x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"270\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-10816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/c925b-299x270.jpg 299w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/c925b-150x135.jpg 150w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/c925b.jpg 712w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Step 2: remove the six Phillips head screws<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: remove the existing ring, the gasket underneath<\/p>\n<p>Step 4: install the dew heater ring, adjusted so the power cable is near the 7&#8217;oclock position and put the screws back in.<\/p>\n<p>Step 5: run the cables into the cable holder which clips on the edge.<\/p>\n<p>Step 6: Bob&#8217;s Your Uncle.<\/p>\n<p>Previous to the work, I watched THREE youtube videos on the process to make me an expert:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to install the Celestron Dew Heater Ring\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eutbN4WHJSc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to install the Celestron Dew Heater Ring\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SJj2XO4UMio?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>and my favourite: https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2blj_PDthcI<\/p>\n<p>All three video demos went smoothly and the job was done in less than 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>I made it to step 2.  Step 3, removing the ring and gasket, totally failed.  After 20 minutes of trying to pry out the ring without touching the glass (or breaking the glass!!!!) I stopped, reversed and put it all back together again.<\/p>\n<p>I am suspecting that maybe it was that all three demos were done in very warm climates, I was trying this at -4C and that everything (metal bits) had contracted and was jammed together. The alternative is perhaps it was stuck together with adhesive.
