The Greenhouse is Dead! Long live the Greenhouse!
\nOr words to that affect.
\nSo.. the old greenhouse was demolished over the course of 3 weeks, cut up and disposed of in a dumpster.
\nThe 10’x10′ cloth shed with no roof was moved to a new location with a foundation of 4″ of dirt, a weed barrier and then some pressure treated wood framing around the base, with a bunch of gravel up against it.
\nIt took about 3 weeks to:
\ntighten and add nuts and bolts;
\nadd more roof supports (tie down straps);
\nadd duct tape to all the joints;
\nbuild a frame for the front and back walls;
\norder UV greenhouse plastic x2 (one for roof and one for both ends);
\nput the plastic over the top, leaving a 3′ spacing for ventilation;
\nadded metal insect screening for the bottom vents;
\nstaple then strap the plastic;
\nadd screen door to front, vented window to rear;
\nAnd here is the result… maybe $300 of supplies after reusing the original metal cloth shed frame

\nWe built 2’x8’x36″ high work tables and surfaced them with 1\/2″ hardware cloth 24″ wide, nailed down with fencing nails.
\nWe moved an old plant stand into the back to hold additional items
\ntwo pallets under the left side tables for storage
\ncreated a bed of dirt under the right side table for fall crops
\nadded a lee valley 33% shade insect net… still the temperature hit 47C yesterday in our 4th heat wave of the summer.
\nwill be looking for more shade netting to increase that percentage.<\/p>\n

There is still a lot of work to do… before fall and cold temperatures:
\nadd a solid door to the front;
