{"id":1550,"date":"2011-03-18T08:52:48","date_gmt":"2011-03-18T13:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/?p=1550"},"modified":"2011-03-18T14:11:12","modified_gmt":"2011-03-18T19:11:12","slug":"rasc-kingston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/2011\/03\/rasc-kingston\/","title":{"rendered":"RASC Kingston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/kingston.rasc.ca\/\">Royal Astronomical Society of Canada &#8211; Kingston Centre<\/a>, had its regular monthly meeting Friday March 11th, 2011 at 7:30pm in Stirling Hall Theatre A, 64 Bader Lane on Queen&#8217;s University campus in Kingston.<br \/>\nIt was all about meteorites and we saw the Meteorite Men&#8217;s adventures is Saskatchewan and Alberta chasing down the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Buzzard_Coulee_meteorite\">Buzzard Coulee<\/a> and Whitecourt meteorites, followed by members meteorite displays including a Buzzard and a Whitecourt.  A good time was had by all, especially the part about the popcorn and chips during the 40 minute video!<\/p>\n<p>I note that in the RASC Observers Calendar, some notes:<br \/>\nArthur Covington, Canada&#8217;s first radio astronomer and RASCKC member,  died ten years ago<br \/>\nAnd on Saturday March 19th, 2011 we will experience the largest full  moon  of 2011<br \/>\nSunday March 20th 19:21EDT is the spring equinox (have a celebration&#8230;  a BBQ is nice!
