{"id":345,"date":"2009-02-03T09:15:30","date_gmt":"2009-02-03T14:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/?p=345"},"modified":"2009-02-03T09:21:48","modified_gmt":"2009-02-03T14:21:48","slug":"ground-hog-day-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/2009\/02\/ground-hog-day-1\/","title":{"rendered":"ground hog day + 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of little catch up items .. groundhog day was yesterday and with groundhogs only at 39% with their predictions, at least the big 3 all agreed on seeing shadow and more winter coming.<br \/>\nWe of course watched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0107048\/\">Groundhog Day<\/a>.. an annual tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe snowblower went out twice in the last week, clearing out over 50 cm&#8230; at least we can get to the greenhouse and observatory now.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe KAON400 (Kingston Astronomy Outreach Network) kickoff event on January 10th went well as described earlier.  The guest speaker kickoff at RMC had a hiccup or two&#8230; a widespread power outage the afternoon and night of the talk on Tuesday&#8230; during a blizzard&#8230;<br \/>\nso it was rescheduled for Wednesday and everything went well.<br \/>\nDr. Sara Seagher spoke on extrasolar planets and methods of detecting them.<\/p>\n<p>\nWe have wondered for some time what an LCD monitor placed out in the observatory would do.. and if it would hold out&#8230; and so far it has been out for 3 weeks  and is doing wonderfully&#8230;despite -10, -15 and -20C temps.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/20090101-079-moon.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/20090101-079-moon.jpg\" alt=\"20090101-079-moon\" title=\"20090101-079-moon\" width=\"600\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-347\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of little catch up items .. groundhog day was yesterday and with groundhogs only at 39% with their predictions, at least the big 3 all agreed on seeing shadow and more winter coming.
