{"id":3906,"date":"2012-12-13T15:40:14","date_gmt":"2012-12-13T19:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/?p=3906"},"modified":"2012-12-14T09:26:49","modified_gmt":"2012-12-14T13:26:49","slug":"geminid-meteor-shower-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/2012\/12\/geminid-meteor-shower-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Geminid Meteor Shower 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"\/allsky2\/\">SCO Allsky2 camera\/UWO camera10<\/a> captured 105 events last night (Dec12\/13, 2012)<\/p>\n<p>Of those 33 were false positives (a bit of condensation inside the dome and passing car headlights)&#8230; so 105-33=72 meteors, most of which are geminids (by tracing back the path to the geminid radiant). We are also looking at building some light shields to stop car headlights from directly impacting on the dome.<br \/>\nThis system also has GPS time inserted onto the image, so it is very accurate.<\/p>\n<p>The older <a href=\"\/allsky1\/\">Allsky1<\/a> does not yet but we do have a GPS timing receiver that we just have to figure out how to code to get the time onto the images.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to be out tonight (Thursday Dec 13) as well to do some consumer camera imaging and the old fashion manual eyeball observing for after when the batteries have died!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The SCO Allsky2 camera\/UWO camera10 captured 105 events last night (Dec12\/13, 2012) Of those 33 were false positives (a bit of condensation inside the dome and passing car headlights)&#8230; so 105-33=72 meteors, most of which are geminids (by tracing back the path to the geminid radiant).
