This is a 3&#8243;x5&#8243; nominal piece of wood, raising the wall height by 3&#8243;.<br \/>\nHow much dirt is needed to bring up the levels 3&#8243;?<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take Veg3(2007) at 60ft^2 as the first example.<br \/>\n60ft^2\/27ft^3 = 2.2 yards of dirt 1&#8242; deep \/ 4 to get 3&#8243; = 0.6 yards<\/p>\n<p>Veg2(2005) is 80 ft^2 and will need 0.75 yards (but some is already planted)<br \/>\nVeg1(2003) is 170 ft^2 and will need 1.5 yards (and some is already planted)<br \/>\nVeg6(2011) is 60 ft^2 and will need 0.6 yards<br \/>\nVeg7(2011) is 24 ft^2 and will need 0.3 yards<br \/>\nVeg8(2011) is 24 ft^2 and will need 0.3 yards<br \/>\nVeg4ABC(2006) is 200+150+180=530ft^2 and will need 6&#8243; not 3&#8243; gives 9 yards!<br \/>\nVeg4SC(2010) is 120 ft^2 and will need 1 yard<br \/>\nVeg5N(2010) is approx 250 ft^2 and will need 6&#8243; not 3&#8243; gives  4 yards!<br \/>\nThis totals about 18 yards already and we haven&#8217;t touched on the strawberrries, grape vines, and expanded butterfly garden.<\/p>\n<p>It looks like we will not get 6&#8243; into Veg 4ABC and 5N.<br \/>\nGiving everyone 3&#8243; totals about 12 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Updated 2013 May 06<br \/>\nVeg1 was topped up with 10 wheelbarrel loads of earth  (~2.2 yards)<br \/>\nVeg2 was topped up with 5 wheelbarrel loads (~1.1 yards)<br \/>\nVeg3 was topped up with 5 wheelbarrel loads (~1.1 yards)<br \/>\nVeg6 was topped up with 5 wheelbarrel loads (~1.1 yards)<br \/>\nVeg7 was topped up with 2 wheelbarrel loads (~0.4 yards)<br \/>\nVeg8 was topped up with 2 wheelbarrel loads (~0.4 yards)<br \/>\nor about 6.3 yards moved so far<\/p>\n<p>Updated: 2013 May 08<br \/>\nMost wheelbarrels seem to be about 6 ft^3 of volume.  It is hard to tell as the one we have is no longer sold by Canadian Tire&#8230; and it is a winner.  Two inflated large tires in the front, two solid wheels in the back, with a dump lever.  Makes moving a lot of dirt not nearly so difficult.<br \/>\nVeg4C had 11 loads of earth added to it yesterday.. that&#8217;s about 66 ft^3\/27= 2.5 yards<br \/>\ntotal to date about 8.8 yards or just over half of the 16 yard pile.<\/p>\n<p>Updated: 2013 may 24<br \/>\nWill have to revise downward the estimated volume of the wheelbarrel.
