The data is wrong and we suspect the windspeed sensor on the Davis Unit.<br \/>\nWe can also compare it to our older but still functioning Oregon WMR968 Wireless Weather Station, which confirms our thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>You would think that this more modern unit would have been engineered correctly from the start.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/davisvantagevue2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/davisvantagevue2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"davisvantagevue2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-5138\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/davisvantagevue2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/davisvantagevue2-299x299.jpg 299w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/davisvantagevue2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>.<br \/>\nNow we have to start a long troubleshooting and repair process and mark all top wind speed data from 2012 December 26 to be incomplete and or wrong.<\/p>\n<p>From the<br \/>\nVantage Vue Integrated Sensor Suite Manual &#8211; Davis Instruments &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe wind cups don\u2019t spin or don\u2019t spin as fast as they should.\u201d<br \/>\nThe anemometer may be located where wind is blocked by something, or there may be friction interfering with the cups\u2019 rotation. Remove the wind cups by loosening the set screw, and clear out any insects or debris which may be interfering with the cup rotation. Turn the shaft the cups rotate on. If it feels gritty or stiff, contact Davis Technical Support.
