Even so it was about -15 with a little breeze early Saturday evening.<br \/>\nThe moon was 10 days old and within 26 degrees of Jupiter, so the sky was quite lit up.<br \/>\nThis was using the 10cm Meade SC telescope, tracking in RA, FL=1000mm, with the ZWO ASI120MC camera, firecapture and autostakkert to process.<\/p>\n<p>The seeing was not good and in the raw video one could make out almost nothing of the surface features.<br \/>\n821 frames in total, the best 50% used to stack to create the image, 60 seconds of exposing at 4.8ms each.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6215\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6215\" style=\"width: 299px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/conv_jupiter_20150301-002245_ZWO-ASI120MC_Exposure15.9ms_002245_g4_b3_ap10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/conv_jupiter_20150301-002245_ZWO-ASI120MC_Exposure15.9ms_002245_g4_b3_ap10-299x236.png\" alt=\"Jupiter with x2 barlow\" width=\"299\" height=\"236\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/conv_jupiter_20150301-002245_ZWO-ASI120MC_Exposure15.9ms_002245_g4_b3_ap10-299x236.png 299w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/conv_jupiter_20150301-002245_ZWO-ASI120MC_Exposure15.9ms_002245_g4_b3_ap10-150x118.png 150w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/conv_jupiter_20150301-002245_ZWO-ASI120MC_Exposure15.9ms_002245_g4_b3_ap10.png 304w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6215\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jupiter with x2 barlow<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nThe second image is with a celestron x2 barlow (fl=2000mm).  It was much harder to focus and the image is much software, lower contrast, lower brightness and lower resolution than the first.  But it is x2-3 more pixels, with potential in the future to do much better.<\/p>\n<p>The images have been flipped so north is up and follow the rotation of Jupiter from left to right.<br \/>\nThe raw video has 3760 frames, of which 50% were used to stack, each exposure was 16ms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was the first clear night where the temperatures were not colder than -20C with a stiff wind.
