\nAs noted previously, it was a bad morning for imaging, but what else are you going to do? -13C and a good wind of 20kph with gusts. <\/p>\n

The telescope shook so much that Jupiter often left the field of view.<\/p>\n

The roof of the observatory was frozen shut (a lot of ice rain, snow and sleet in the last two days) but a little pounding on the side skirts freed it up.<\/p>\n

The best image of the run was the last one at 02:01 EST. The haze following the cloud cover earlier slowly blew away to better seeing and transparency, although I still rated both as “poor”.
\nI missed the first of the two shadows, Europa, which came in around 02:20 EST<\/p>\n

The image below is an animated .gif of the best of the imaging session.<\/p>\n

All of the previous images had much worse focus and the amount of jitter in the captured 90 second .avi was incredible, even with software alignment in real time turned on. This is a 400×400 image below, using about 700 images from a run of 1400.

\nThe batch processing aspects of some of the .avi raw videos failed. A manually processed at least two more that did not appear in the final display above but also changed from the best 50% to the best 75% of the frames, and also remembered to do an RGB autocolour balance in registax as well.
