{"id":7252,"date":"2016-10-05T09:33:55","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T13:33:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/?p=7252"},"modified":"2016-10-05T10:50:53","modified_gmt":"2016-10-05T14:50:53","slug":"possible-fireball-tuesday-2016-october-04","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/2016\/10\/possible-fireball-tuesday-2016-october-04\/","title":{"rendered":"possible fireball Tuesday 2016 October 04"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/sco-20161004_2237_27.fit_.png.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/sco-20161004_2237_27.fit_.png.jpg\" alt=\"sco-20161004_2237_27-fit-png\" width=\"657\" height=\"495\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7253\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/sco-20161004_2237_27.fit_.png.jpg 657w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/sco-20161004_2237_27.fit_.png-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/sco-20161004_2237_27.fit_.png-299x225.jpg 299w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were twitter reports this morning of a possible fireball last night around 22:30 EDT.<br \/>\nAs always, media and other 3rd hand reports come with very little detail and timings are usually way off.<br \/>\nSo we scanned through the 400 images last night from Allsky1 and the only anomaly found was at 22:37:27 and the immediate 80 seconds before that, as it is an 80 second exposure and the timestamp is at the end of the exposure.<br \/>\nThe bright flash is at the bottom of the image, right over the letter &#8220;h&#8221;in the word &#8220;south&#8221;.<br \/>\nThe <a href=\"\/allsky2\/\">Allsky2 Camera System<\/A> did not detect the event, probably because of the tall trees to its south.<\/p>\n<p>We can&#8217;t say that we have ever seen any terrestrial lightsource at that point, being so low to the horizon, it could be headlights on a chimney reflection for instance.<\/p>\n<p>Will continue to gather reports and check the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amsmeteors.org\/members\/imo_view\/event\/2016\/3737\">American Meteor Society<\/A> website as well for more details.
