They are then raked over loosely and will be covered in straw the next day.<br \/>\nPart of our preparation is to preselect the seed, ie cloves from each type and determine how many we want to plant in increments of 6.  Cracking the garlic bulbs in advance also saves a lot of time in the cold field.  In addition it gives us the chance to inspect the cloves for any leek moth damage and replace them if need be.<\/p>\n<p>We planted on Saturday 2017 Nov 4th, in our VegBed#5.  It took approx 3 hours to plant 843 cloves.
