{"id":9157,"date":"2020-09-21T11:24:27","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T15:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/?p=9157"},"modified":"2020-10-21T14:44:46","modified_gmt":"2020-10-21T18:44:46","slug":"jupiter-2020sept20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/2020\/09\/jupiter-2020sept20\/","title":{"rendered":"Jupiter 2020sept20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another night of imaging with the Meade 102mm SC on the Meade LXD55 equatorial mount in the Serenity Observatory.\u00a0 Started with realigning by hand the OTA on the dovetail, as it had slipped.\u00a0 Need to take it off and tighten that single point of attachment sometime, but not last night and not just before a session.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9158\" src=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-09-21-0047_0-kk-l-jupiter_exposure66ms_zwoasi290mc_pipp_lapl4_ap27_drizzle15wk9.png-annotated-299x299.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-09-21-0047_0-kk-l-jupiter_exposure66ms_zwoasi290mc_pipp_lapl4_ap27_drizzle15wk9.png-annotated-299x299.png 299w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-09-21-0047_0-kk-l-jupiter_exposure66ms_zwoasi290mc_pipp_lapl4_ap27_drizzle15wk9.png-annotated-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/starlightcascade.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/2020-09-21-0047_0-kk-l-jupiter_exposure66ms_zwoasi290mc_pipp_lapl4_ap27_drizzle15wk9.png-annotated.png 744w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Powered up the mount, told it to do a two star alignment, using Arcturus and Mizar.\u00a0 Used the new two holer Hartmann mask to focus on Mizar and low and behold, resolved the double star and it was quite sharp.\u00a0 The Hartmann mask came off\u00a0 and told it to go to Jupiter, and it did get\u00a0 close, within the 1\/2 degree of the innermost Telrad circle.\u00a0 Found it.\u00a0 Added the dew shield and started imaging runs, two 30sec first then 180second runs.\u00a0 The seeing appeared average but the transparency poor.\u00a0 I was not happy with the ongoing image, so after 3 runs, fiddled with the focus.\u00a0 It got worse \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>While processing the images I noticed the Great Red Spot&#8230;
