There seems to be a fine line of what exactly you can do with a laptop in the outdoors in the winter.
The replacement allsky computer was outside the first night and ran into some “operating system errors” that I attributed to -10 deg C temps and the hard drive not working so well.

The next night it was brought in to warm up, then placed inside a bag wrapped in a blanket along with its power brick and put outside. It too stopped working during the night and crashed/locked up. Looking at it the next day it was on the hot side and perhaps too well insulated.

Today it is inside the house going through some hard drive tests and repairs. When it does go back outside tonight, it will be inside a larger plywood box with some more air space inside, which will hopefully moderate the temperature better.
