tomato planting weekend

This weekend (the last of March) is tomato planting weekend!
We will be selecting our heirloom tomato seeds, planting maybe 10% more than we have space for to allow for some seeds not to germinate, plus an extra flat for sale at the L&AHort plant sale in May.

This image is from last years garden, where we experimenting with the little red plastic trays meant to help the tomato plant by reflecting red light, collecting water and releasing it slowly, keeping cutworms out, etc.
We alternated with and without and in the end, found no difference in plant health, size or tomato production 🙁

Updated: cold wet weather this weekend… we are pushing the planting off another week.
