The Kingston Astronomy Outreach Network (KAON) held an open house, lecture and public observing session on Saturday July 14th, 2012 from 21:00-22:30 EDT at the Queen’s University Ellis Hall Observatory.
The lecture speaker was:
Dr. Poonam Chandra (Royal Military College) who spoke on
“Cosmic Explosions: Seeds of Life” from about 21:05-21:35.
Afterward over 50 people came up from the lecture room 324 to the observatory, dome and observing deck. Too bad it was pretty cloudy. We did manage to get views of Saturn and its rings and one of the moons, Titan, in between the cloudy bits.
Kim, myself and Brian Hunter were there running scopes on the deck with Nathalie touring folks around the dome and the Torus Tech 16″ telescope.
The August KAON session Open House is CANCELLED due to observatory renovations. Specifically the Torus Tech telescope is coming out of service and a new Celestron telescopewill be up and running hopefully by the next KAON open house on September 8th, 2012.
