Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is a long-period comet, with an 80,000-year orbit around the sun.

We were south of Newburgh Monday night, had the first camera image at 19:12 EDT but did not know it.

This is one of the fun ones, where the plane suddenly altered course to avoid collision with the Comet! 🙂

We did use the contrail to help each other find it visually and in binocs.
