Sid2 shut down
We shut down SID2, the Sudden Ionospheric Disturbance system on Sunday 2016 April 24th.
Over the last 2 years we have set it up indoors, moved it to an outside wall, moved it right outside (the antenna) with the data logging computer into the garage (farther away from other household electronics. In the end we could never be sure we were receiving actual data over noise.
We rarely saw the graph of sunrise and sunset effects.
The new supersid system seems to be much much better, showing these details while at the same time being a multifrequency receiver, capable of picking up many stations simultaneously. To date we are only reliably picking up NAA in Cutler Maine, but that may change as we move its antenna in the near future farther away from the house as well.
