Whilst waiting for aurora in the north, Kim took an image to the south last night.
This is with our *old* Canon EOS Rebel (300D) 18mm f3.5, 30 sec exposure on a sturdy tripod.
Sirius Orion, Hyades, Pleiades with some trailing… not sure why there would be trailing, even if they are on the celestial equator (and hence moving the fastest), especially at 18mm. Wait.. we had this conversation before!
The original image was 3072×2048 pixels, 2MB in size, this was reduced down to 1280×853 and 200KB for email..
The metadata says f5.6.. hmm will have to check the settings.. it should have been wide open at f3.5 at the 18mm setting, at ISO800
